Cason Wallace Leaves Kentucky For NBA Draft

Apr 1, 2023 10:39 AM

University of Kentucky freshman guard Cason Wallace is declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft. Wallace is a projected top-10 pick in this June's draft.

In his lone season with the Wildcats, Wallace averaged 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. He shot 45% from the field and 35% on three-pointers.

The 6-foot-4 combo guard is considered one of the best defenders in this draft class. Wallace's wingspan and length as a perimeter defender are intriguing to teams. He also showed an ability to play as an on-ball facilitator late in the season. That increases Wallace's value, as he showed he can be more than just a scorer.

Cal Hires Mark Madsen As Head Coach

Mar 29, 2023 4:08 PM

Mark Madsen has been hired as head coach of Cal.

Madsen has been head coach of Utah Valley for the past three seasons.

Madsen spent six seasons as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers.

After being a two-time all-conference selection at Stanford, Madsen was a first round pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000.

Madsen was long perceived as the favorite to take over at his alma mater, but Stanford has opted to keep Jerod Haase the past two seasons despite the team's struggles.

Cal fired Mark Fox after a 3-29 season.

Rodney Terry, Texas Agree To Five-Year Deal To Become Head Coach

Mar 27, 2023 5:21 PM

Rodney Terry has agreed to become head coach of the University of Texas on a five-year deal.

Terry has been the Longhorns' interim head coach since Chris Beard was suspended in December and ultimately fired a month later.

Terry became emotional when asked Sunday about his desire to become the head coach at Texas.

"I haven't really had a lot of time to give a lot of thought to that, to be honest," he said. "I've been so wrapped up and invested in my team. Again, I love these guys. Not only will I just love these guys for the time I got to coach them, I'll love them for the rest of their lives. I'll be at their weddings. I'll be talking to those guys when they have their firstborn.

"It was all about this team, man, and I enjoyed every single day of this journey with this group. I'm going to really miss -- I'm going to really miss working with this group. It was never about me. It was always about these guys. I love these guys."

With Terry at the helm, Texas went 22-8 overall and 12-6 in conference play.
