Heat Rename Arena To Kaseya Center

Apr 5, 2023 1:54 AM

The arena where the Miami Heat play home games will be renamed the Kaseya Center following a vote by the Miami-Dade County commissioners.

The deal, which will take effect immediately, is set for $117.37 million over the next 17 years.

The Heat will receive $2 million per year in the deal.

The agreement comes five months after the team and the county started the process to remove the FTX brand from what was briefly called FTX Arena.

Kyle Lowry Returns In Bench Role After Missing 15 Games

Mar 12, 2023 11:58 AM

Kyle Lowry returned to game action with the Miami Heat for the first time since Feb. 2nd and came off the bench. Lowry last played as a reserve in 2013, breaking a streak of 677 games starting.

Lowry wanted to simply help as he can after missing 15 games.

"At this point right now, no," Lowry said when asked if he cared about still starting. "I know in my heart I'm a starter, but right now we have to figure out things. And me and [Heat coach Erik Spoelstra] talked. He wants to make sure I'm healthy enough to not have a setback and have to change the lineup again and have to change the rotation again."

Spoelstra and the Heat players were pleased by what they saw from Lowry.

"He came back, and he looked great to me," Butler said. "Right back in rhythm. But we got to win. With him out there, without him out there, we're expected to win. We're in the fight for our life right now. Glad to have my guy back. I think we all know that. I think everybody is. Now we just got to get him back and win."

Kevin Love Has Strained Relationship With Cavs Front Office

Feb 23, 2023 11:21 PM

Kevin Love's relationship with the Cleveland Cavaliers front office is currently strained, sources told Chris Fedor of cleveland.com.

Love was yanked from the Cavs rotation in the lead up to his buyout request last week, with the forward eventually signing with the Heat.

The Cavs were growing uneasy with Love's growing unhappiness while sitting on the bench and were willing to buy him out to prevent a potential blowout.

J.B Bickerstaff said he reached out to Love after the buyout, though has yet to hear back.

Milwaukee had an open roster spot and wanted to bring in a big man with shooting ability and a playoff history.

Leonard has been out of the NBA since March 2021 when he used an antisemitic slur on a video game livestream before rehabilitating post-surgical nerve damage on his right leg.

Leonard received a one-week NBA suspension and a $50,000 fine for the antisemitic slur. Leonard claims he didn't know the meaning or history of the slur he used.
